When you find that one book ...

Image result for ready player one

It's absolutely no secret that I am a massive nerd and not only am I into my books, but also many other geeky hobbies so with that every month loot crate gets delivered to my door!

Oh the excitement of lifting the lid on that box to see the hidden treasures inside!

So what's this got to do with books you may be wondering?

Well one month I opened the box to discovery a book inside...one I had never heard of.

Curious, I turned the page and began to read, only to end up in one of the most amazing worlds to ever enter my imagination. As a massive fan of gaming I was immediately engrossed into a world I simultaneously wished I lived and yet didn't live in!

Set in 2045 with an almost post apocalyptic world where over population, food shortage and poverty plague the earth. Humanity plug themselves into a virtual reality called oasis which is a MMORPG (massive multi player online role playing game). When the creator of oasis dies leaving an Easter egg (hidden message or interactive secret within a game) behind for part one of a series of challenges to complete and whoever does so first will win his inheritance (a prize most converted by all).

Readers who were brought up during the 80's will really appreciate this book as it is a heavy theme throughout with reference to retro games, T.V and even cereal!!!

Ready Player One is a must read and I would even go so far as to say it's one of my favourite books of all time!

If only gaming was this advanced now...

But it isn't so read Ready Player One!

All the Star Wars hype!

So I don't know about anyone else but the closer to Decemeber we get, the more excited I get for Star Wars!

I know most people are probably sick of hearing about it now, but you either love it or you hate it...or you're one of those people that have been in a corner most of your life, and don't even know what Star Wars is! (This is true, I know someone who has never watched a single Star Wars movie!!!!)

So to add to the hype why not check out a personal fav of the massive Star Wars franchise, with the Jedi Apprentice books. They follow the story of a young Obi-Wan Kenobi from his kid days to becoming a true Jedi, alongside with Qui-Gon Jinn! There's some moments that tug at the heart strings but if you love Star Wars you'll love these books that give a great new understanding to the characters!

Me Before You Cast!

Still awaiting the trailer for 'Me before you' ... dare I watch that let alone the film!

I will be brave ... or try whilst drowning in my own tears!

But the cast isn't bad usually I find I'm rather judgemental when it comes to casting as of course when you have read the book your imagination is always better ( at least I believe mine is!). I'm also still mentally scarred from the 'Mortal Instruments' casting and will be for the rest of time. Sorry fans I just pictured my Jace differently;

Anyway back to subject...

Will Traynor will be played by Sam Claflin.

Louisa Clark will be played by Emilia Clarke.

Also some sneaky little photo's of filming are out and about!

  I can't wait!

Dark, gritty and a whole lot of murder!

So I'm in the progress of finishing the Jack Caffery series by Mo Hayder! Two thirds of the way through Poppet and there's definitely plenty of mystery and fairly disturbing things going on. Also a nice little bit of blossoming romance to brighten up the tension of a pretty creepy murderer on the loose! Definitely worth a read if you love crime thrillers and don't mind some very dark moments that could upset the hardiest of people. (Definitely a graphic warning in there!!) First book of the series is Birdman with another 7 books in the series along with several stand-alone books that are equally terrifying and dark.

"There are no endings, and never will be endings, to the turning of the Wheel of Time"

As my first post to the blog I thought I'd throw in what quickly became one of my favourite book series!

Many of my friends have heard me mention (probably far too many times) about the Wheel of Time series written by Robert Jordan.
What was originally written as a six part series spanned into a fourteen part series with a prequel! I started reading the first book on an off-chance after seeing it in a charity shop. Thinking it looked interesting I took it home and completely forgot all about it until a good couple years later when I found it lying around at home, just when I was looking for something good to read. Coincidence? I think not!

From the first few pages I found myself lost in this engaging series that covers a massive fantasy based world with numerous personalities, and stories that all intertwine to something amazing. Any fans of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings will greatly enjoy this series, and if like me, will not be able to stop reading even at the point when you have finished one book and need the next. I bought the rest of these books on the kindle marketplace which was somewhat dangerous on my part, as I ended up finishing a book and instantly buying and reading the next.

A full book review to follow, but if you don't mind losing a few weeks to a fantasy realm, this is a definite must to read!

Need a little Jedi in your life?

Who doesn't love Star Wars? Well to make the wait to the 18th of
December a little easier and to bridge a gap give aftermath a read...

'Aftermath' is a 2015 Star Wars  novel
by Chuck Wendigthat was published by Del Ray Books  on September 4,
2015. The novel is set between the Star Wars films Return of the Jedi
and The force Awakens. 'Aftermath' is the first of a planned novel trilogy that will explore events between the two films.

Not only do we have the new films to nerd out about, but a set of books in-between to keep the jedi withdrawal away!
