One english literature lesson that has always stuck in my head was the captervating first line lecture. My teacher had said that a reader knows off the first line wether or not they will finish the book. He used the example, "How was I to know today was the day I was going to die". Now that is a pretty good first line but the first line that really got me was...

This is from the first book in a triliogy i am currently reading. It won the guardians childrens prize. It's title is 'the knife of never letting go' and the author is Patrick Ness.
I'm now towards the end of the second book and although it is a childrens book I am totally absorbed in the world it is set in and completely invested in the characters especially the boys pet dog Manchee.
These set of books would make a great Christmas present or treat yourself!
Although we may have had a break from blogging we never stopped reading and have some absolute must reads.
So where to start? what sticks out in my head ... well it would have to be 'Me before you' by Jojo Moyes I find my self suggesting this book to almost every person I meet!
I had no idea what the book was about as I’m a firm believer in the element of surprise and therefore never read the blurb. This book will forever be on the bucket list and don't think I will ever get over the emotional roller coaster this book put me on. I'm so glad and read it which I doubt I would have if it hadn't got picked for book club.
So fifty shades has long gone the buzz is dying down and we are STILL waiting to see who is going to be cast in the film. If you need to fill the bdsm gap in you then The Dark Garden by Eden Bradley is worth a read its focused on more than one story at a time which is a nice change in pace and i would say its worth a read!
So my fellow blogger handed my a library book which i would have never picked up of my own accord, but having not much else to read i decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it was easy , fun and made me laugh out loud (a task not many books accomplish let me tell you ) the characters are awesome and the way it bounces between every ones story keeps you interested all the way through. If your looking for a fun summer read especially if your off on your holidays i would pick this up.....
Oh what to do in this awful weather well the answer is easy read! Get a warm blanket and a nice hot drink your favourite chair and enjoy. Everyone loves a good bargain and the Kindle is full of them some recent ones we have picked up are,

Are January reading material , which we pulled from the cauldron, is a bit of a change . We have two books a month for those who don't know and our first is,
The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
and our second is A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving.
As previously stated City of Bones by Cassandra Clare got pulled out the cauldron for us to read last month, I have to admit I was really excited I love anything remotely supernatural.
So I reserved it at my local library and when the call came in I rushed over to pick it up , full of excitement for that very evening I had the House to myself , a night of relaxing and living an alternate life was ahead of me.
So there I was waiting in the Que , people behind me , members of staff behind the desk busying themselves. When finally it was my turn , yes I explained I have a book reserved I'm really looking forward to reading it! The Liberian indulged me in small talk , whilst checking the system. Confusion spread across her face, oh no! I thought they can't find it , but no, a little louder than necessary she asked "are you sure its the correct book? you do realise its junior fiction???".
No actually i hadn't. I explained its for my book club yes I do want it and I'm so glad I did !
Who cares what age group it was aimed for???
I really enjoyed it and i loved the world it was set in .
Their is however a down side to reading books aged for the teen market ,as some of you may be aware this has now been made into a film. In my minds eye I picture the characters to be older. So having now seen the casting I don't agree with it , for no other reason then that's not what I imagined. I found this to be the case with The Host also. I still can't wait to watch these films but I'm worried I won't like the actors playing the parts ,not because they will do a bad job ,but because I liked the way it played out in my mind I fell in love with the characters I imagined.
Still so glad to have read it!!!
I will continue with the series and I have already ordered the next one!
